It’s nice that we keep winning. I do think giving up game trying goals with less than 2 ministers remaining is becoming concerning. Also, Maurice is got to start to rolling four lines to allow all players other than Scheifele and Wheeler to also get into a groove.
This Thompson and Lewis over Harkins, Vesalainen and Gustafson business also needs to end.
Just some Ultimate thoughts for a warm Friday morning....... |

Agree and I’ve been saying this for weeks.
Thompson was signed as a vet with some sand/grit. He can fight for sure but his game has shown none of that! Maurice says he can kill penalties and then he’s not on the PK??
For him to be playing over 2 or 3 of the younger players is very frustrating.
Young players not playing, including Stanley, doesn’t make sense to me. No jet games no Moose games can’t help develop a player

The Jets should be platooning Harkins, Ves, Gustafson, Stanley, Heinola and Niku to give them all some time playing so they won't be thrown into the line up cold if injuries hit. |

Agreed, at minimum, these guys should be platooning to get in NHL games.

I agree with some platooning. Lewis and Thompson are in that lineup for experience. I think Lewis has 700 games under his belt. In tight 4 pt games in a reduced schedule, every game matters and also most games tend to be pretty close in score . Maurice just does not want to gamble on a rookie making a mistake in such an environment. After having played 700 games I think Lewis has learned all the little things that make the difference that Harkins and Ves can only learn through experience. Guaranteed they will get their chance next year or thru injuries but until then I can see the logic of why they are not playing. Maybe you'll see them against Ottawa or on a back-to-back night. |

I was kind of thinking, can Maurice really trust any combo of a 4th line when they log way under 10 minutes a game? Short of Perrault, Thompson for sure could frequently take a seat and to a lesser degree Lewis. This would at least provide occasional games for the youngsters, so they can at least see the odd 5 minute game. |

I think the general debate is what is really best to develop young talent. Is just scrimmaging and playing 5-6 minutes a game on a 3rd or 4th line better for development than playing 20-22 minutes on a top-two line on the Moose? The veterans like Lewis know their roles and know that's all that expected of them and they are way beyond any needed development stage.
I'd like to see some rotation, but when the Jets are on a long road trip its probably better to let Ves and Harkins play on the Moose than getting inserted once every three games for a 6 minute stint on a 4th line.

Vesalainen and Gufstafsson were sent to the Moose yesterday, Harkins isn't waiver exempt anymore, Stanley is waiver exempt still but the Moose have too many dmen as it is as they're dressing 7 dmen some games. |

Agreed. I meant to say Ves and Gus but for some reason had Harkins on my mind when talking about rotation in the Jets lineup. Harkins is a bit more seasoned and reliable . |

I tip my hat to Perreault who has exceeded my expectations so far. Hope he remains healthy.

wow, if Beaulieu doesn’t sit out the next game after this disgusting display I won’t be happy. |

Paul Maurice’s systems are working brilliantly tonight! We definitely need more Beaulieau, Thompson and Lewis!

Just turned the game back on. I got confused for a bit. Legitimately thought that the Allouettes had scored a touchdown against the Bombers.

Going to get all the painful tv out of my system in one evening, now watching a hallmark movie with my wife. |

Perhaps laying an egg like this means we’ll see a really strong performance against the Leafs. If they play like this against T.O. I’m scared to see the results. |

Which Hallmark movie,...... Love of course? My daughter is in that one filmed in Wpg.
What a snoozer. Here is where I do agree with the posters about the coach.......... why not rotate in some young legs that are trying to prove something. I mean, yes, Thompson has experience but come on, how about throwing in some young legs once in awhile instead of playing these tired old players like Thompson / Beaulieau game after game.
The game was not lost due to either Thompson or Beaulieau's play as everybody sucked, but come on, you got Harkins waiting to get in or Stanley/Niku, rotate them in for some spark for crying out loud.
This part I do agree with the posters that rotating in young legs seems to be lost on the coach.

Good thing we were able to kick that punt through the end zone to get that single point or else there was nothing to celebrate about this game. |

Fit for a prince, looked like it was going to be a tragic misunderstanding leading to a split but the antagonist unexpectedly had a change of heart and they all lived happily ever after.
About Thompson, Lewis and pereault, they were as good as any Jets last night. |

Let's not forget that the score dictated that the 4th line got more ice time, than they would have in a close game.

At least the jets let us know early that we could change the channel and watch something else. Better than entering the 3rd tied and still having high hopes. If you are going to lose, lose big. Poor JoMo clearly needs a better pairing. |

Forwards, defense, goalies. coaches, GM, water boy, trainers, Covid-mgr - total team effort. There was nothing there. Nothing!
Can't think of one thing about this game that made me happy - other than it ended! |
